Platform: Traveling Back

The cold
that wafted from his body
after coming in from gathering kindling,
the chill silver of his ring in morning sun.

Edgar turning in seat 10b, offering her
a jaunty salute with a quick flick of wrist—
pressing to the rectangular window
that broken line.

Her kohl-lined legs

taking the opposite direction home.
